38 is Great in Terrapin Nation! Maryland Joins the Revolution!

YOUR United States Strongman is proud to welcome YOUR Maryland State Representative, 105 KG Pro and crab cake eating son-of -a -gun, Andy Deck to the Revolution. We couldn't be more excited to have Andy! Let's hear from him in his own words!

"I first got involved in strongman in 2005 at Virginia Tech by promoting and running a local contest on campus. When we were cleaning up I decided to try picking up one of the atlas stones and upon successfully loading it to 48” I decided then and there that it was about the coolest thing I had ever done and that I needed to do it a lot more.

Since then I have competed in a total of 39 competitions spanning the novice, lightweight, middle weight, heavy weight, and pro divisions with the only non-podium finishes coming at national or international competitions. Additionally, I have been a part of Team Elitefts as a sponsored athlete since 2010. I have run or worked half a dozen competitions in the past and have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly, and I firmly believe the best way to help grow the sport is to put the athletes first to ensure a positive experience for everyone.

I have over a decade of experience working in different exercise-related fields including personal training, strength and conditioning at both the high school and collegiate levels, and physical therapy. My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech, a master’s degree in Applied Physiology with a focus on Strength and Conditioning from Salisbury University, and I am currently back in school working to earn my doctorate in Physical Therapy.

I have been living in Maryland for the majority of my strongman career and through my years of training and competition I have had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of like-minded guys and girls who have all helped to grow our sport into what it is today. Though US Strongman is still a young federation, it is growing fast all across the country, due in no small part to the fact that the leadership both at the national and state levels is top-notch, and I am extremely honored to become a part of an organization that I believe shares my vision for the growth and success of the sport. The word is out - US Strongman is doing it right and doing right by the athletes and I will do everything I can to help the federation grow as both an athlete as well as YOUR Maryland state representative."

Welcome aboard, Andy!!!
