Your Inaugural United States Strongman, Inc. National Championships is coming to the Crossroads of America in beautiful Indianapolis, Indiana! Indianapolis plays host to numerous event including Gen-Con, The Superbowl, the NCAA Championships and the Indianapolis 500 - the largest sporting event in the world. Indianapolis is a family friendly city with an active night life and many entertainment options.
The actual host site is the Dupont Pavilion on the historical Indiana State Fairgrounds, conveniently located between Downtown Indy and the Bustling North Side. It is also a stones throw from Indy's evening playground, Broad Ripple Village. This is an indoor venue of over 16,000 square feet with indoor plumbing (yes Indiana has that). As a matter of fact, indoor restrooms and concessions will be available the day of the contest. Competitors can expect to have a competitor area for some solitude, plenty of seating for spectators and booth space for sponsors alike.
This inaugural national championship contest will host the Open Men's, Women's and Master level and Pro competitors.
When asked about running the first ever USS, Inc. Nats, veteran promoter John Albrecht said, "When I first asked Willie Wessels about USS and what it stood for, how it differed, and how I could operate in it, I didn't expect to hear things like, 'family first', 'veteran promoters' and 'I (Willie) don't have to be the one to host nationals every year'. I was intrigued to say the least. I asked about the likelihood of nationals coming to Indiana - because I figured that I could do as good of a job as anyone because my goal is to run the best contest and put the athletes first. Everything else is secondary When I got the 'O.K.' from Willie, I turned to my wife laughed with excitement! I was the State Rep for USS and hosting the first ever USS National Championships! I feel honored and aim to please. This has been a goal of mini, to host a big time show, for the better half of a decade. I am truly thankful for the opportunity that I have and the support that has already come my way."
John is still working on a few items but is looking to have a reference point for many of the activities and points of interest that Indianapolis has to offer for those that will be traveling with family and friends."
More details will be made available as we near the contest.
